Elevator Safety

The Elevator Safety unit registers all elevator devices in the State of New Jersey. Elevator devices consist of elevators (hydraulic, traction, winding drum, roped hydraulic, rack & pinion and limited use limited access), escalators, moving walks, dumbwaiters, wheel chair lifts, chair lifts and man lifts. The elevator subcode is regulated under the Uniform Construction Code in Subchapter 12.

This portal provides online access to properties on file with Elevator Safety. Users may look up, print, and pay bills; view or print inspection reports, certificates and judgments. Owners or in-state agents may register new properties, transfer ownership, update devices, amend contact information.

This portal provides online access to properties on file with Housing Inspection. Users may look up, print, and pay bills; view or print inspection reports, certificates of registration, certificates of inspection and judgments. Owners or authorized agents may register new properties, transfer ownership, update information, request an extension of time to abate violations or request an administrative hearing.

Rooming and Boarding House Standards

The Bureau of Rooming and Boarding House Standards is responsible for the implementation and enforcement of the Rooming and Boarding House Act of 1979, and the inspection and licensure of emergency shelters for the homeless pursuant to Rules Governing Shelters for the Homeless, and inspection and licensure of Free-Standing Residential Health Care Facilities pursuant to the Health Care Facilities Planning Act.


This portal provides online access to properties on file with Rooming and Boarding House Standards. Users may look up, print, and pay bills; view or print evaluation reports and judgments. Owners may register new properties, transfer ownership, update information, request an extension of time to abate violations, request an exception to abate violation and request an administrative hearing.
